manim-examples
A collection of manim animations.
Running
This repo uses a Nix flake, so manim comes from the devshell:
nix develop --command manim render -ql path/to/scene.py SceneName
If you'd rather not type nix develop --command every time, enter the shell once:
nix develop
manim render -ql path/to/scene.py SceneName
Useful flags
| Flag | Meaning |
|---|---|
-ql |
Low quality (480p15) — fastest, good for iterating |
-qm |
Medium quality (720p30) |
-qh |
High quality (1080p60) — use for final output |
-qlh |
Low file size, high quality |
-a |
Render every scene in the file |
-p |
Preview in a window after rendering |
--progress_bar |
Show a progress bar (not shown by default) |
Rendered output lands in media/videos/<scene-name>/<quality>/.
Examples
# single scene, draft quality
nix develop --command manim render -ql cybersec/web/stored_xss.py StoredXSS
# every scene in a file, final quality
nix develop --command manim render -qh -a greeting.py
# preview while iterating
nix develop --command manim render -ql -p basic_scene.py
To see which scenes a file contains, run it with no scene name — manim will render every scene it finds:
nix develop --command manim render -ql cybersec/web/stored_xss.py
